FAQs

  • How much do you charge?

My rate runs from $150 to $195 depending upon factors including what type of work we are doing together and your ability to pay. While I do not take insurance directly, many insurances will bill out successfully. We’ll do everything we can to help you use your insurance so we can work together. Please call if you are interested, and we will facilitate obtaining your out-of-network benefits if possible.

  • The Free 10-Minute Consultation Phone Call!

I offer a free 10-minute consultation to all clients during treatment.

If there is an emergency, please dial 911.

  • Do you work with teens or children?

Yes, I love to work with teens or children with one of more of their parents in attendance or solo if absolutely required. Rates are the same.

  • Do you have a sliding scale?

From time to time, I have a few openings with people for a reduced rate. Please call if you need a reduced rate, and I will hopefully plug you into one of my reduced-fee slots.

  • Do you take insurance?

You may use your insurance if your benefits plan offers coverage for network or out-of-network providers for a Utah-licensed therapist. Most in-state plans provide this coverage. Out-of-state coverage depends upon your state and insurance company. You will need to contact your insurance company to determine your reimbursement coverage.

I recognize that filing insurance claims can be confusing at times, especially outside Utah; if you wish, I will provide a monthly superbill statement containing all necessary information (coding, diagnosis, dates of service, signature, etc.) for that purpose. You may then file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. Please keep in mind that where states and insurance disallows Utah coverage, I will not be responsible and officially will represent myself as a coach through my NLP certifications. There is a one-time fee for data entry labor and follow through for superbill delivery.

Most out-of-state clients simply value my service by paying out of pocket and do not play the insurance games.

Please be aware that I have no control over the confidentiality of your information once it is received by your insurance company.

  • How do I make an appointment?

You may leave a confidential message on my office phone any time: (435) 703-O756. Or you may leave a less confidential text or email (blaircounseling@gmail.com) requesting your appointment. I will return your request as soon as possible.

  • How long are sessions?

Treatment sessions are 50 minutes long although longer times may be scheduled if agreed to in advance or as needed when available. Longer or even double sessions may be desirable back-to-back for first time emergency sessions to allow some relief as quickly as possible. Those who are anxious to get emotional pain relief at first meeting will require two sessions back-to-back on the same day.

  • What should I expect on my first visit?

Describe the item or answer the question so that site visitors who are interested get more information. You can emphasize this text with bullets, italics or bold, and add links.
  • Do you keep what happens in your treatment sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the bedrock fundamentals of psychotherapy and coaching. It protects your privacy to share freely and openly in our sessions together. All treatments provided and information shared will be confidential. Except for the legally required disclosures outlined below, I will not share information or respond to inquiries of any kind from any source without your written consent.

    • If in my clinical judgment, you pose a threat to harm yourself and you refuse appropriate treatment, I am ethically bound to notify the appropriate parties (those who may intervene to protect you).
    • If you indicate a serious threat to harm another person, I am legally required to warn the intended victim(s) and the police and/or to obtain a civil commitment to the state mental health system.
    • I will be required to report any suspicion of child or elder abuse or neglect to the authorities.
    • In some instances, the courts may subpoena my records or testimony. In some instances, I will be required to respond to these subpoenas…often it is a summary or notes.

This is the general stipulation of all the United States and will be honored in any case.

  • How can therapy/counseling/coaching help me?

It will provide a safe, friendly, trained, professional context in which to resolve mental and sometimes physical issues. The goal is to remove emotional pain and replace it with the necessary programming to generate and continue regenerating an increased sense of well-being. Often a client experiences growing up to current mature functioning previously handicapped by pain and other encumbrances; improved physical health through the reduction of stress; and greater strength, clarity, purpose, and direction in life. When emotional pain is removed from memory and belief errors are corrected, individual growth and positivity is often dramatic and amazing.

  • How long will therapy take?

The simplest response is that it will end when our assessment markers are reduced measurably to where you want them and when you feel that you have completed the treatment you came to do. Although, this is often a joint decision, it is ultimately up to you to decide it is time to be “free to fly about the country.”

Every process has a unique life of its own, and my commitment is simply to expedite progress as rapidly as possible assuming I am doing all I can do and that you are able and doing likewise.

  • What is my ideal client?

    • A Mother and/or Father and one child from 8 to 18, others to be added in as necessary. The most comprehensive change happens in this setting, and it is truly miraculous and even fun to participate in these sacred journeys.
    • Betrayed partners who desire pain relief and identity transformation. This is very challenging work and yields wonderful, joyful transformations. I love to be there for the joyful fireworks.
    • Anyone from 8 to 95 who is experiencing the need for pain removal and stress relief; someone who is ready to take charge of their life and establish a permanent joyful transformation to a highly functioning life.
  • Do you have a specialty?

Yes, I am an emotional pain removal specialist, hopefully well defined above in this Web site.

  • Do you work with couples?

I am a marriage and family therapist by licensure, and I do enjoy working with couples.

Couples work today is more individualized than ever before because we have wonderful tools that facilitate each partner in removing interruptive emotional pain and accompanying negative patterns throughout life to this current point in time. When that work is done individually, the couple is ready to engage in a wonderful process of firing up a relationship often better than ever before.

Barriers to intimacy, angry and defensive discussion patterns, trust betrayal from infidelity or pornography or emotional neglect, negative communication patterns, habitual automatic trigger interactions, health obstacles, and more need resolution and reprogramming to establish joyful connection and “real unconditionally loving” relationships.

  • Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religious traditions?

Absolutely! I believe that all human beings are created equal and not to be judged based on their differences. I welcome clients from all faiths, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.
